I was having a conversation with a friend the other day about how he liked what I call “shit” and what he calls “pop rock”. In talking about bands like Paramore, etc, that make offensively generic songs, meaning songs with the same four chord changes on top of a basic drum rhythm every iteration, we decided that we both liked music that was “fun, easy to sing along with, and enlivening”. Had that conversation taken place today, I would have shown my friend Fabian‘s newest single “Last Flight” as a perfect example of what I was talking about. The track has a catchy-like-the-plague hook and head-bobbing melodies all throughout it. Fabian doesn’t necessarily re-invent electronic pop here, but he damn sure takes its best aspects and puts them on display in a way that can appeal to almost everyone. Have a listen and make sure to grab his album Say Goodbye on the fantastic Binary Records on August 22nd. Enjoy.

Bonus: Here’s a golden oldie by Fabian that was basically on half of all the mixtapes put online last year.
