The Pains of Being Pure at Heart – Heart in Your Heartbreak (Twin Shadow Remix)

Way back in November, Kash posted The Pains of Being Pure at Heart’s single Heart in Your Heartbreak, describing it as the song that would become a “phenomenal summer anthem.” Well, it looks like Kash was right. Not only has the popularity of the song grew in the months following his posts, but Twin Shadow has recently decided to remix the phenomenally catchy song. Strongly influenced by Twin Shadow’s New-Wave roots, this edit seems to mellow out the original to a great extent, almost turning it into a completely different song. Although the emotion is still present, it seems to be more refined. Instead of being channeled through the original’s thrusting guitar riffs and emphatic percussion, this version expresses it through knee-slapping, hand-claps and perfectly timed orchestral melodies. Even though I wouldn’t say that this edit eclispses the original, it definitely offers a refreshing take on a track that has grown near and dear to our hearts throughout the year.
