French songstress and electronic music composer Emilie Simon has just released her latest US EP titled “The Cycle.” Although I haven’t listened to Simon’s music to a great extent in the past, one of the song’s remixes managed to capture my attention the other day. Composed by Midnight Sun, the remix/production guise of Andrew Raposo and Morgan Wiley of Midnight Magic/Jessica 6, and Ultramars (Emilie’s alter ego), this edit features an assortment of tropical and retro instrumentation that’s surprisingly reminiscent of artists like the Magician and Aeroplane. Completely caught off guard by the quality of this remix, I would certainly recommend that you keep Midnight Sun on your musical radar from now on.
