Christmas is right around the corner and Star Slinger has decided to play with one of his favorite songs from the past year, Mount Kimbie’s “Before I Move Off.” This remix, like every other Slinger production I’ve fallen in love with, has a smooth roughness to it. I know that sounds completely contradictory, but just listen. He juggles beats on top of each other, constantly kicks them into motion and sprays vocals throughout the process. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by this layering, Slinger creates a seductive production. Time and time again, I’ve found that whatever this man touches turns to gold.
