Bon Iver – Beth / Rest (Work Drugs Remix)

The remix contest for Bon Iver looks like it’s heating up! Work Drugs have just decided to throw their hat into the mix! The song that they’ve decided to alter is “Beth/Rest.”  If my memory serves me well, my first impression of the original was, “Wow, was this song made in the 80s?” Well, it seems that Work Drugs have decided to fully embrace the songs old-school feel. Adding in a mixture of retro-stylized synth and some of their own vocals, Work Drugs’ version is noticably more uptempo; turning Bon Iver’s original into an all-out summer groove. Although I wouldn’t put this one ahead of Teen Daze’s remix of Bon Iver’s “Perth,” the smooth-fi band has still put forth a phenomenal effort!
